Word of the Day

Thank you Jesus for all your blessings! Praise the Lord!
We give you all the glory! You are worthy to be praised!

Thank you for joining us today! If you are new to this blog, please take the time to post a comment on what you have read today and let us know what you think. We value your opinion. For those joining us who have followed us since the beginning, this blog is designed for Pastor Ed to give us the Word of the Day and share with us his teaching on the Word.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Wonderful I hope. Let's talk about worship. And he pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west and Hai on the east: and there he built an altar. Genesis 12:8 Worship is giving God the best of what He has given you. Be careful what you do with the best you have. Whenever you get a blessing from God, give it back to Him as a love offering. Take time to meditate on His word, before Him and give the blessing back to Him in an act of worship. If you hoard anything for yourself, it will become spiritually dry-rotted just like the manna. God insists that whatever has been given you must be given back so that He may give it as a blessing to others.
Bethel is a symbol of communion with God; Ai is a symbol of the world. Abraham pitched a tent between the two of them. The measure of worth of our public activity for God is the private communion we have with God. Don't rush into anything, take your time in your worship service with the Lord. We have to have quiet times with Him regardless of how noisy our surroundings may be. It isn't about worship, waiting and work. Some of us are like frogs, jumping to and fro from these three. God's idea is that these three, worship, waiting and work go hand in hand. This is how the Lord used them; together. He was unhasting and didn't rest. It is a discipline that must be worked, you can't just jump into it all at once and expect it to run like a well oiled machine. Take your time and enjoy every second of your worship time with the Lord, and let the revelations and the realizations come to you as they will.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Great I hope. Let's talk about the destitution of service. Though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved. II Corinthians 12:15 Natural love expects some return, but the unconditional love of Christ which is what we are to portray, does not. Paul says- I do not care whether you love me or not, I am willing to destitute myself completely, not merely for your sake, but that I may get you to God. "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor." Paul's idea of service is exactly along that line, I do not care with what luxury I spend myself, and I will do it gladly. It was a joyful thing to Paul.
The ecclesiastical idea of a servant of God is not Jesus Christ's idea. His idea is that we serve Him by being the servants of other men. Jesus Christ out-socialists the socialists. He says that in His Kingdom he that is greatest shall be the servant of all. The real test of the saint comes not with preaching the gospel, but washing disciples' feet, that is, doing the things that do not count in the actual estimate of God. Paul delighted to spend himself out for God's interests in other people, and he did not care at what cost. We come in with our economical notions, "Suppose God wants me to go there. A man must consider these things."  All that is an indication that we are serving god with a reserve. Paul focuses Jesus Christ's idea of a New Testament saint in his life, not one which proclaims the Gospel merely, but one who becomes broken bread and poured out wine in the hands of Jesus Christ for other lives.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Wonderful I hope.  Speak; for your servant hears. I Samuel 3:10 Because I have listened to one thing from God, doesn't mean that I will hear everything He says. The way in which I show God that I neither love Him nor respect Him is by the bluntness of my heart and mind towards what He says. If I love my friend, automatically detect what he wants, and Jesus says, "You are my friends." Have I disobeyed a command of my Lord? If I had realized that it was a command of Jesus, I would not consciously have disobeyed it. But most of us show such disrespect to God that we do not even hear what He says; He might have never spoken.
The destiny of my spiritual life is such identification with Jesus Christ that I always hear God, and I know that God always hears me - John 11:41. If I am untied with Jesus Christ, I hear God, by the devotion of hearing all the time. A lily, or a tree, or a servant of God, may convey God's message to me. What hinders me from hearing is that I am taken up with other things. It's not that I won't hear God, nay, but that I am devoted to the right place. I am devoted to things, to service, to convictions, and God may say what He likes but I don't hear Him. The child attitude is always, "Speak; for your servant hears." If I haven't cultivated this devotion of hearing, I can only hear God's voice at certain times; at other times I am taken up with things, things which I say I must do, and I become deaf to Him, I am not living the life of a child. Have I heard God's voice today?

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Great I hope. Today, let's talk about direction by impulse. There was nothing  of the nature of impulse or cold-bloodedness about Jesus, only a calm strength that never got perturbed. Most of us develop our Christianity along the line of our temperament, not along the line of God. Impulse is a trait in natural life, but our Lord always ignores it, because it hinders the development of the life of a disciple. Watch how the Spirit of God checks impulse; with a rush of self-conscious foolishness which automatically moves us to vindicate ourselves. Impulse is o.k. in a child, but it is disastrous in a man or woman; an impulsive man is always a petted man. Impulse has to be trained into intuition discipline.
Discipleship is built entirely on the supernatural grace of God. Walking on water is easy to an impulsive person, but walking on dry land as a disciple of Jesus, is a whole other ballpark. Peter walked on water to go to Jesus, but he followed Him from afar on land. We do not need the grace of God to stand crises, human nature and pride are sufficient, we can fancy the strain wonderfully,; but it does require the supernatural grace of God to live twenty four hours as a saint, to go through drudgery as a disciple, to live an ordinary, unobserved, ignored existence as a disciple of our Lord. It's inbred in us that we have to do exceptional things for God, but we don't. We have to be exceptional in the ordinary things, to be holy in mean streets, among mean people, and that is not easily learned in five minutes.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Wonderful I hope. Let's talk about justification by faith. "For if we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:10 It is not repentance that saves me, repentance is the sign that I realize what God has done in Jesus Christ. It is my obedience that puts me right with God, my consecration. I am put right with God because prior to all, Christ died for me. When I turn to God and by belief accept what God reveals I can accept, automatically the wonderful atonement of Christ rushes me into a right relationship with God; and by the supernatural miracle of God's grace  I stand justified. Not because I am sorry for my sin, not because I repented, but because Jesus died. The Spirit of God brings it with a breaking, all-over light, and I know, though I don't know how, I am saved. The salvation of God doesn't stand on human logic, however, it stands on the sacrificial death of of Jesus. We can be born again because of the atonement. Sinful men and women can change into new creatures, not by their repentance or belief, but by the stupendous work of God in Christ Jesus which is prior to all experience. The safety of justification and sanctification is God Himself. We have not to work out these things ourselves; they have been worked out by the atonement. The supernatural becomes natural by the miracle of God; there is the realization of what Jesus Christ has already done, "It is finished."

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Blessed I hope. Today let's talk about the witness of the Spirit. "The Spirit Himself beareth witness with our spirit..." Romans 8:16  We are in danger of getting the barter spirit when we come to God, we want the witness before we have done what God tells us to do. "Why doesn't God show Himself to me?" He can't until we abandon absolutely to Him. Immediately when you do, God witnesses to Himself, He can not witness to you, but He witnesses instantly to His own nature in you. If you had the witness before the reality, it would only end in sentimental emotion. When you transact on the redemption, and stop the debate, God gives on the witness. As soon as you leave behind reasoning, God will witness to what He has done and we become amazed at how long we have kept Him in waiting. Matthew 11:28, " Come unto Me." " Come if you are weary and heavy laden." Luke 11:13
The Spirit of God witnesses to the redemption of our Lord, He doesn't witness to anything else, He can't witness to our reason. The simplicity that comes from our natural common-sense decisions is apt to be mistaken for the witness of the Spirit, but the Spirit only witnesses to his own nature, not our reasoning. Throw it away, surrender to Him, trust in Him and He will give the witness to you.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Highly favored I hope. Today's let's talk about the innermost whisper. The innermost whisper is How God communicates. Are our ears in tune to listen to His still, small voice? The best way to make sure that  God's voice is heard is to be walking down the right path. What possesses a man to walk with Jesus? It may have been a miracle he just witnessed. It could have been something he heard on t.v. that changed his heart. We must take care of our relationship with the Lord. It must be cultivated every second of every day. God is always communicating with us, the fact is most people aren't listening. They are too busy at work, or cooking dinner or just taking care of their own responsibilities that they fail to hear the soft whisper of God. The emphasis is put on the wrong thing. It's a matter of getting in tune, getting aligned with the Word of God. It's the innermost that reveals the power of life. We must be careful and take heed that we don't abuse the right to talk with God. He loves our conversations and wants to be a part of our lives daily, but if we abuse it, He will most certainly correct you. So we have to continue to walk the walk with Jesus. The central thing about the kingdom of Jesus Christ is a personal relationship to Himself, not public usefulness to men. He will come in and let us know where there is room for improvement. You have no idea where God is going to engineer your circumstances, no knowledge of what strain is going to be put on you. As long as we, as the body of Christ, continue to do the Father's will, we will remain true to Him whatever happens and He will continue to communicate with us.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Blessed I hope. Today, let's talk about God's will. What is God's will for me? Is it singing in the church choir or volunteering my time with the community? Maybe God wants me to start my own business. Whatever God's will, it is most certainly not your will. It is not a question of whether my God is willing to purify me; is it my will? Am I willing to let God step in and take the reigns and do all that has been made possible by the atonement? Am I willing to let the life of Jesus be manifested in my flesh? Don't say Oh I am waiting for my sanctification. Make it a done deal already. I Thessalonians 4:3 says "This the will of God, even your sanctification."  Receive Jesus in implicit faith and the atonement will be made clear to you. All that Jesus made possible is mine by the free gift of God. My attitude as  a saved and purified soul is of humble holiness, a holiness based on the great effort of repentance and unspeakable shame and degradation and also on the awesome realization the the love of God, shows itself in that while I cared nothing about Him, He completed everything for my salvation and sanctification. "Nothing is able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:39  Sanctification makes us one with Jesus Christ and in Him one with God, and it's only done through the atonement of Christ. Let's make sure that we are doing the will of God everyday, by repenting of our sins and coming with open arms into his kingdom with thanksgiving and praise.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Blessed I hope. Let's talk about the baptism of the Holy Spirit today. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is defined as work whereby the Spirit of God places the believer into union with Christ and union with other believers in the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 is the best scripture in the Bible in regards to to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. "For we are all baptized by one Spirit into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given the one Spirit to drink." 1 Corinthians 12:13 All have been baptized when they are born again. The baptism of the Holy Spirit unites us to the body of Christ and it brings into actuality our crucifixion with Christ. Being in His body means we are risen with Him to a newness of life. Romans 6:4 states: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. We should then take care to work our spiritual gifts to keep the body working properly. Being involved with Christ in His, death, burial and resurrection through the Holy Spirit baptism finds that we the basis for our separation from the power of indwelling sin and walk in newness of life. Colossians 2:12 says, Buried with him in death, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
After we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the first thing many do is begin speaking in tongues. In order to receive this special free gift, we must pray that the Holy Spirit will come live within us and we will be able to see the result of that through an unknown heavenly language known as tongues, your conversation with the Lord, and it confuses Satan. You won't know what you are saying, because it is an utterance from your heart that the Holy Spirit is interceding on our behalf to the Father. It may seem awkward at first, but once you begin to speak, the Holy Spirit fills your mouth with words and it you will get used to it. The more you speak it, the stronger the Holy Spirit's presence falls upon you. With the power of the Holy Spirit upon you, you can move mountains. You can change the atmosphere of your life, because you have the exact same power that Jesus had to heal the sick.
     Repeat after me,
Lord Jesus, please forgive me of my sins and make me pure, clean and holy in your sight. I acknowledge that you were born of a virgin, died on the cross for my sins and rose the third day to ascend into heaven to sit beside the Father. I ask that you come into my life and live in my heart forever. Lord, I ask that you send The Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to live in my heart and baptize me with the Holy Spirit. I receive Him now in your precious name. Thank you for sending Him to comfort me.
                                                                                                                                 In Jesus name,
                                                                                                                                      Amen

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Great I hope. Today let's talk about our loyalty to God. Are we doing everything to remain loyal to Him or are we floating around going with the flow? "For His names sake they went forth." III John 7. In order to remain loyal we must look at what's involved here. If you are loyal to your friends that means that you would do anything for them, but would never stab them in the back. It holds true with the Lord that you must identify yourself with His interests in other people, not identify Him with your interests in other people. I Corinthians 13 tells of this love and God's love shed upon us. The test of your love for Jesus is the practical one. Loyalty to Jesus is the supernatural work of redemption labored by the Holy Spirit who gives the love of the Father and places it in our hearts and that love works through us with everybody we meet. We must stay loyal to Him although every common-sense fact tells the lie of Him.
Jesus was loyal to His Father by staying in the Spirit of Him. He held the truths and the secrets close to His heart and made sure to fulfill His purpose while He was on the earth. Jesus is the greatest example of loyalty to God showing us that no matter what our circumstances may be, we are to stay true to the one who gave us life. And God established His loyalty to His people with His covenant. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." And, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:29-31 This is what loyalty is. We should remain steadfast in our loyalty to Jesus.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Great I hope. Today, let's talk about putting off the old man and putting on the new man. When Jesus shed His blood for you and I and died upon the cross for our sins, it allowed us to not be bound under the law but subject to faith because His redemption and salvation that was purposed has been fulfilled. Therefore, we are dead to our sins and alive in Him. That being said, we must put off the old man which is corrupt, the one covered in sin and put on the new man which speaks truth with his neighbor. We are not subject to the law anymore. We are free to be saved by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Ephesians 4:17:18 - Don't walk as the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened and having blindness of heart. Ephesians 4:23-24 says, And be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man , which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Don't be angry and don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil. Rather  labor, working with your hands things which are good. Colossians 3:6b says the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience. Christ is all in all.
So we must also forbear one another and forgive one another even as Christ forgave us. Above all these things, put on love which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, because we are of one body and be thankful. Count you blessings. Let the word of Christ dwell in you, teaching one another and singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Whatsoever you do in word, do in deed in the name of Jesus. Folks, it boils down to this, when we make rue, we must stir it over and over again until it boils down just so, right? It's the same thing with God the Father. He is constantly stirring us down, pressed down and shaken together until we, the rue are perfect. And to make it easier He must use His big spoon. Putting off the old man and putting on the new man is that big spoon. Remember, in order to have a friend we must be friendly ourselves.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Wonderful I hope. Let's talk about preaching the Gospel. We have all heard of national and international speakers who get on t.v. or the internet and give us our idea about the Gospel. Some have told their own personal stories while others have relied on the Bible for their sermon. What's important here is that we don't water down the Good News. Preaching the Gospel is what every Christian is called to do. It's our duty, our right to spread the Gospel. What is the Gospel that I'm referring to? To preach that salvation comes from Jesus. He died on the cross so that we may be forgiven of our sins. He came to call sinners to repentance, not the saved. And it's all Christians job to tell the nations about the Good News. What's the Good News? Not only did Jesus die on the cross for our sins, ascend into heaven to be with the Father, and leave us with the Holy Ghost, but He's coming back! He's coming back for to carry us home. And He wants everyone there in heaven with the Father. How do we go about bringing all these people to salvation? It's easy. You don't have to get on an airplane and fly to Africa or Egypt. You don't even have to have your own ministry. The only thing you need is your mouth. It's real simple. It's the people you meet throughout your day. Maybe there's someone at the grocery store that needs to hear the Word because they are lost. You might meet somebody at the pharmacy waiting in line and have the opportunity to strike up a conversation. Please remember this, you don't have to be well versed in the scriptures to tell people about Jesus. If you are saved, and have the love of Christ in your heart, the Holy Ghost will lead you. Let Him steer you. And he said unto them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized (in the Holy Ghost) will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:15,16

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Excellent I hope. Let's talk about getting discouraged and how to handle it when you do. Sometimes we get discouraged when we don't get our way right away, or something doesn't happen quite as fast as we want. Sometimes we get discouraged when we don't get that promotion or we lose that job that was keeping everything together. Philippians 4:6-8 says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God , which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. Don't let your heart get discouraged, you may have just lost that job, but that's o.k., God has got you right where He wants you. There's another job around the corner. Don't get down and out because you didn't get that promotion, that's o.k. too. God is saying be content with what you have. God knows your needs. He knows exactly what you need and He will always provide for you. When we get discouraged, we are saying Lord, I have lost hope, my faith is fading. Let's look to Him when this happens and let Him restore us and mount us up on eagles so that we may soar.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Great I hope. Let's talk about brotherly love today. Romans 12:10 says, Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another. What does brotherly love mean? It means that no matter what happens, in attitude and deed love one another. A new commandment, John 13:34, A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  If someone is making you mad, angry or upset, don't gripe back at them, you are only stooping to their level. Instead, raise them up in prayer and keep the love of the Father in your heart. This means that no matter what, we are to act accordingly. This also means that if your "brother", neighbor or friend comes to you and says, "Give me to drink or eat", we do not send them on their way empty handed. We are obliged to do the Lord's work. We are happy to help that person in need. That doesn't mean that you have to go overboard and give every beggard a dollar. No, instead, be lead by the Holy Spirit. Listen to what he has to say. Then go forth and do as He has commanded you. Now the Holy Spirit will command out of love. So don't think He will bark orders at you either. We are to be their for our "brothers and sisters" in Christ. 1 John 4:20-21 states, If anyone says " I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. That pretty much sums it up doesn't it? We can't say we love God and then turn around and hate our brother. That idea will never fly. No, we must love our brother as we love God, for this is His commandment.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Wonderful I hope. Let's talk about our relationship with Jesus. What are we doing actively to maintain our relationship with the Lord? Some people praise and worship for an hour or two, some of you may spend time in the Word while others may grow their intimacy with the Lord by praying. It's great to know the scriptures, it's wonderful to pray and worship, but is this the only way we spend time with the Lord? We must be open to receive the Lord however He may appear. Sometimes, He may show up in a cloud, other times he may show up on a t.v show, but the whole of it is that He will come in more than one way. We must pay close attention to our times with the Lord. What is He saying? What does He want us to get from the Word we just read? Our livelihood thrives on our relationship with Him, and we must take heed that we don't disturb or hinder our times with the Lord, but make them flourish. How can we do that? Do you have an ongoing conversation with Him that only stops when someone else talks? Do you write in a journal to Him everyday? You see, it's not just the prayer time, it's certainly not just the time we spend reading our Bible or going to church. In fact those are great things to be doing. We must take care of the precious time we spend with our Lord. His time is valuable and in order to build a more intimate relationship with Him, we must be willing to be open to all avenues of communication. You never know, how, when or where He will pop up next!

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Wonderful I hope. Today, let's talk about the test of faith. We have all been tested by Satan in numerous ways. It might be something as simple as bad habits or it may be an encounter. Maybe it's more of a spirit that is taunting you. We all have the power within us to rebuke these occurrences in the blood of Jesus if we are born again. Just say, "By the Blood of Lord Jesus, I bind you up and rebuke you." He has nothing else to do except flee. And he will run.  James 1:2 says, "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him." Steadfast means fixed in direction, steadily directed, firm in purpose, resolution or faith, unwavering, firmly established, or firmly fixed. Jesus wants all his children to receive the crown of life, but not all will get one. Why? Some refuse to know the Lord. But if we love the Lord and we obey His voice, he will show us the way. If we are to remain steadfast that means we are to stand firm on the promise of God. Be unwavering in our decisions of life. If you have a bad habit that needs to be broken, please do so immediately.  Don't procrastinate. Hold on strong with everything you have, and let go of all the negative things around you. If you want to endure the good race, and stand the test of faith; which every believer will go through at some point or another, then remain steadily directed, firm in your purpose. For once we have battled all of Satan's army and come out as a victor; which we have already won to begin with, then we will receive the crown of life.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Great I hope. Let's talk about courage in the Lord today. Have you been afraid to come boldly before the throne of God? What about being afraid to do something simple like pray? Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24 Let's address that fear. It says be of good courage, not bad courage. I don't think I have ever heard of bad courage, but there is. Courage to speak when you know in your heart you probably shouldn't argue back, that is one form of bad courage. But the Lord says, "Be of good courage." The kind of courage that allows you to come boldly before the throne of God. The kind of courage that allows you to pray earnestly. The kind of courage to wait patiently on the Lord. "And He shall strengthen your heart." Wow. He will strengthen my heart if I am of good courage! And all I have to do is to be of good courage. Think on the good things, the positive things, the heavenly things. "All you who hope in the Lord." So, let's recap, when I hope in the Lord, place my hope in Him, the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best, and be of good courage, He shall strengthen my heart. To strengthen my heart will make me more in tune to His words, won't it? It will bring about more faith and and it will be easier to place my hope in Him, shouldn't it? It will open my eyes to new, good courage, won't it? Yes to all. Folks, it's real simple to get caught up in our daily lives and lose sight of what God has in store for us, but if we are of good courage and place our hope in Him, He will strengthen our hearts.

For those joining us who have followed us since the beginning, this blog is designed for Pastor Ed to give us the Word of the Day and share with us his teaching on the Word.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Wonderful I hope. Today lets talk about growing weary. We all tend to grow weary from time to time when we pray and pray and still are left waiting patiently. Right? The key here is to not grow weary. No matter how long it may take to get what we are seeking after, we must continue to pray fervently and wait upon the Lord. Galatians 6:9 says, "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who who are of the household of faith."  Boy, that was a mouthful. It says a lot, doesn't it. We  can't give up. We mustn't. We will reap our harvest, the plants and fruits and vegetables that we have growing in God's garden, and they will be ready if we don't give up. Never did a farmer get upset because his food wasn't ready in time. He always knows that he must wait till the right time, the air is right, the fruits are fully grown; then he can go about and pluck them for him and his family. It's the same thing here. We must wait, as tough as it may be to do sometimes, we must continue to do good to everyone.

Sometimes, we think, "Oh, it won't hurt if I am mean to this person, in fact, they were mean to me." Folks, that is not the right approach to anything. God sees all, knows all, is all in all. He even knows our thoughts. If we will continue in that mindset, we will drift away from the Lord's plans. So, therefore, it is only right to be steadfast in our prayer. Be immovable. Go along your day, thanking the Lord for bringing you to this place. Do this all day and you won't even remember what it was you were mad about. But to grow weary, tired of doing the same thing, waiting for your result, waiting and waiting, that's the way God has His plan set in place for this world. Let us not grow weary of doing good, people. We will reap if we do not give up.

We like to close every Word of the Day by making sure you have the opportunity to ask Jesus in your heart.
So please pray,  Lord Jesus, I accept that you were born of a virgin, died on the cross and shed your blood for my sins to be forgiven and rose again to be Lord and King. I repent of my sins and ask that you come into my life and be Lord and Savior and live in my heart.
Amen

Thank you Jesus for all your blessings! Praise the Lord!
We give you all the glory! You are worthy to be praised!

Thank you for joining us today! If you are new to this blog, please take the time to post a comment on what you have read today and let us know what you think. We value your opinion. For those joining us who have followed us since the beginning, this blog is designed for Pastor Ed to give us the Word of the Day and share with us his teaching on the Word.

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing? Great I hope. Let's talk about the importance of pressing in the Lord today. Do you ever wonder why you do certain things when you know you shouldn't? Psalm 62:1 states, "Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation." If we wait fervently upon the Lord, he will deliver. If we press into Him, all good things will come to pass. Pressing into the Lord, means giving Him our all, no matter what the circumstance may be. When times of trouble come, that is when we should be pressing even more, even harder into the Lord. Not only is it a matter of tithing, it's a matter of giving Him our all in all. Showing Him by our actions that we are able to wait. It's not just praise and worship every Sunday at church. Yes, that's fine and good, all's well. But it's a mindset. "Yes Lord, I am here." "Yes Lord, I will do as you command." Yes Father, use me as you see fit." Really press into Him. Really give Him your all in all. When we press into Him, we open the doors of a miraculous release in heaven and joy over floods us. We say "I am yours." We are inviting Him to live in our hearts. We are going to His safe place. When adversity comes, we don't have coward in the corner and run away. No, we look it in the eye and say you are not welcome in this place, In Jesus name.

Our salvation comes when we can open the release from Heaven and allow Jesus to really work in our lives. It's not going to happen if all we do is go to church on Sunday for a few hours and then go back to the sinful desires of our heart. God is a jealous God. Not only does he desire our hearts on a minute by minute basis, He is worthy of it. Just think of all the millions of people who still haven't heard the Word of God. It is our job as Christians to preach the Word throughout all the nations. This can't happen if we sit at home and watch t.v. all day. No, we must be active in our relationship with the Lord in order for this to happen.  Through it all, good times and bad, we must  be able to say, "Yes Lord, I have endured the good race. I have done as you have commanded me." Let's all press into the Lord more so than ever. Let's give Him our all in all and let's see supernatural miracles come to pass.

How is everybody? I pray you are doing well.  Today, let's talk about the preeminence of Christ. To be preeminent means the quality of being superior, notable above all others, first, best place position, glory, honor and prestige. Romans 11:36 sums up the preeminence of Christ in three expressions. For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Of Him:
Of Him says everything which exists; things in heaven, things in earth, everything that was created, everything that has come into being, everything that will come into being, is created by and because of Christ.

Through Him:
Through Him says everything which lives, moves, breathes, operates, exists or functions in this universe, whether animate or inanimate, whether biological, chemical, spiritual, or natural does so through Christ, who upholds all these things, determines their place and keeps them in order.

To Him:
To Him says everything, no matter how far from God's thought it may be, no matter how chaotic things may appear, is being directed, summed up, and gathered together into Christ. As the Alpha, all things flow from Him, as the Omega, all things flow to Him.

Jesus is Lord over us individually, over the church corporately
and over all creation collectively.

To see the greatness of Christ, we must understand what Colossians 1:13-18 talks about when it refers to the preeminence of Christ.

Paul talks about at least seven reasons in this passage as to why Christ should have the preeminence among us. The things that Paul says are limited to Christ (no other could do these things). It's because of these reasons that Christ does have the preeminence among His people.

*Note the reasons*

  •  It is His kingdom (1:13)

The kingdom of Christ is the church. Christ came to this earth to establish His kingdom. It is that kingdom that we are a part of and it is in the kingdom of Christ that we find salvation.

  •  It is in Christ that we have redemption (1:14)

This redemption (forgiveness) can come only through His blood. It took the blood of Christ to buy our salvation.

  • Christ is the image of the invisible God (1:15a)

It's in Christ that we see God. No one has seen God at any time, but we did see Christ
The love of God was manifested toward us in Christ.

  • Christ is the firstborn over all creation. (1:15b)

The word "firstborn" in this passage doesn't mean that Christ was born before all creation. If this were the case, it would indicate that Christ was created and was not always with the Father. Therefore, it has to have a different meaning and both the Greek and English language allow for another meaning. To say that Christ is firstborn over all creation is to say that He is supremely above all creation. This idea is also seen in 1:17 when Paul says that Christ "is before all things". Also, it stands to reason that if Christ created all things (as Paul says immediately following this verse) then He's above all things.

  • It was by Christ that all things were created. (1:16-17)

Christ was the creator (1:16) This leaves no room for doubt that Christ created this world. Not only did He create all things, but it's by Him, all things are sustained. (1:17) It's Christ who sustains us in this world.

  • Christ is the head of the body (1:18)

To say that Christ is the head of the body is to say that He's the authority in the church. He became the head and authority of the church because he died for her. The things that are done in the church should be done only by His authority. This is also the reason that the church is named after Jesus.

  • Christ is the firstborn from the dead (1:18)
Jesus wasn't the first one raised from the dead. Jesus Himself raised at least three people. However, He was the first one to be raised from the dead that didn't die again. To be "the firstborn from the dead" means that Jesus didn't die again. When He rose from the dead, He ascended back to the Father without dying a second time.

Conclusion

In conclusion, let me sum up what we talked about above. By understanding the Lord's preeminence, we can build a stronger unity, a closer relationship with Him and a better awakening of His will for us. Continue to press in to Him to be in His secret place.

We like to close every Word of the Day by making sure you have the opportunity to ask Jesus in your heart.

How is everybody doing today? Excellent I pray. Yesterday we talked about hope and how it affects us spiritually. Today, let's talk about grace. Grace in definition means favor or goodwill. It means a manifestation of favor especially by a superior. God's grace is his mercy given to us freely. When Jesus died on the cross, not only did He bring salvation, but He also handed out grace. It is freely given. You can't earn it, it can't be bought. It is simply given as a gift from the Father. When we receive a gift, we don't ask the person where it came from or even how much it cost. We take the gift knowing that person bought it for us and we say thank you. Grace is the reason the Father sent His son. To give us mercy, to give us favor. We are very blessed because of it. And all we have to do is accept this free gift from above and enjoy the benefits that come with it. And he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9. Let's break this down.

My grace is sufficient for thee. What God gave to us is good enough that this is all we need, His grace. If you're having trouble at work or problems in your family life, meditate on God's grace. It's what builds us back up when we are down. It will help us get through the day when we are feeling low. Remember, it's a gift. It was handed down from above. We just have to accept it and say thank you.
For my strength is made perfect in weakness. God's greatness, his beauty, his strength shines ever so bright when we don't seem to have it all together. When we are weak, that's God's cue to work. He gives beauty for ashes, but in order to do it we must first release the ashes; then His strength will be made perfect in weakness. When we are weak, that's when God's strength prevails.
Most gladly will I rather glory in my infirmities. The New Living Translation says: "So I am glad to boast about my weakness." Why would you say, I am not strong in this area of my life. People will look at me wrong. They will think I am off my rocker if I tell them I am not good in this particular area of my life. Part of having your own identity is to know your limitations. To know what you are capable of. But other people's opinions do not matter when it comes to our weakness with the Lord. For there He will be able to put a new work in us.
That the power of Christ may rest upon me. Here it is the answer to the question. Why would state my weakness? So that the power of Christ may rest upon me. So that He may work through us and build us to His liking, perfect like the Son. Oh, how I love to have the power of Christ to rest upon me. It makes me so happy. It lets me know that God is working through me and molding me into the person He wants me to be.

So, we have learned that God's grace is sufficient for me, his strength is made perfect in my weakness and that it is better that I glory in my weakness so that the power of Christ may rest upon me and begin to work through me. So that I may say, "Thank you Jesus, for sending your grace as a gift, even though I didn't earn it."
